Summary of Policies, Guidance and Directives for Students

• NMSU undergraduate and graduate student employees are subject to the requirement for all employees to be fully vaccinated by Jan. 4, 2022. This is an update to the deadline announced by NMSU on Oct. 27, 2021.

• As of July 1, 2022, students enrolled in classes who will be on campus for any reason must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or receive an exemption.

• Incoming new and/or transfer students must upload their COVID-19 vaccination records or an approved exemption by August 1, 2022.

• Students who do not submit their COVID-19 vaccination records or receive an exemption will be subject to disenrollment.

• NMSU will discontinue its weekly testing requirement after May 5 for those who are opting not to take the booster or have an approved exemption for the primary vaccine series.

We are rolling out a new, simpler platform for uploading both vaccine records and exemption requests in the coming weeks, and will provide detailed information about how to access that system soon. Student vaccine exemption requests will be submitted through this system when it is operational. If you plan to submit an exemption request, please watch for more information about how to do so. For now, students may continue to submit their vaccination records to either VaxTrax.nmsu.edu or Crimson Connection. If you have already uploaded your vaccination proof or exemption documentation, no action is needed. Those records will carry over to the new system.

Expectations for online students

Students enrolled in exclusively online courses are exempt from the vaccine and testing protocols, provided they are not employees, do not live on campus, and will not visit campus at any time to fulfill program requirements or participate in activities.

Expectations for dual credit, and adult education students

Students enrolled exclusively in online courses are exempt from the vaccine, provided they do not live on campus and will not visit campus at any time to fulfill program requirements or participate in activities.

Only those dual-credit high school students who attend NMSU system courses, in person, in NMSU campus classrooms, are subject to NMSU's vaccine requirement for students. Early college high school students who do not attend courses in NMSU campus classrooms are not required to adhere to the vaccination and testing policy. They must follow their school district policy and adhere to the NMSU visitor commitment while on NMSU system campuses.

Adult education students who do not require a banner ID for credit enrollment are not required to adhere to the vaccination policy. They must adhere to the NMSU visitor commitment while on NMSU system campuses.

Exemptions

Medical or religious exemption requests for student employees must be submitted to the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) equity@nmsu.edu
